DevSouth is a one-and-a-half-day workshop intended to foster the regional network of development economics based in the South. After two successful years at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the University of Georgia is excited to host this year’s iteration and continue providing a successful catalyst for connecting researchers at different career stages working on a variety of issues central to development economics.
The event will primarily consist of longer presentations on various topics in development economics. There will also be a breakout session, allowing non-presenting participants to get feedback and advice on their work in an informal setting, and networking opportunities during meals and coffee breaks. All meals will be provided and there is no registration fee to attend.
Accommodations
We have a block of 30 rooms available at a reduced rate of $129 per night at the UGA Georgia Center Hotel, which is locked in until 4/14. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the Business School. Check in will be 5/15 and check out will be 5/17. The booking code is 40014. This can be used online or over the phone. Parking is included. Breakfast is not included but will be provided at the workshop on both 5/16 and 5/17.
Transportation
The closet airport to the University of Georgia is the Atlanta airport. The Groome Shuttle runs regularly between the airport and Athens and picks up and drops off at multiple locations in Athens (make sure to specify the location of your choice when making the reservation). If you’re staying at the UGA Georgia Center Hotel, the shuttle can drop you off and pick you up right at the hotel.
