How We Support Our Alumni

At the J.M. Tull School of Accounting, our commitment to your success doesn’t end at graduation — we want you to thrive in your profession. Your success is our success, and we’re here to support you every step of your post-graduation journey.

Whether you’re looking to advance your career, expand your professional connections, give back to your alma mater, or simply stay in touch with the place that helped shape your future, you’ll find countless opportunities here.

Accounting Career Development

Did you know approximately 80% of jobs are filled through a professional network connection? We encourage alumni to tap into this “hidden market” by forming meaningful connections with other Tull graduates. Not only can this lead to career advancement in the accounting field, but it can also illuminate exciting new opportunities.

In addition to leaning on our alumni network, graduates benefit from professional development resources provided by UGA, including tools and services that help with:

  • Cover letter and résumé writing
  • Job search
  • Networking
  • Interviewing

Continuing Education

The J.M. Tull School of Accounting and the Terry College of Business offer several advanced degree programs that can help alumni take their careers to the next level and deepen their expertise in accounting and business.

PhD Program

UGA’s Ph.D. in Accounting is the gateway to a career that combines intellectual pursuit with meaningful impact. As Ph.D. holders, our graduates join a distinguished community of scholars who shape the future of accounting through research, teaching, and thought leadership.

Executive Education

Terry’s Executive Education programs offer a flexible pathway to advanced business knowledge without the commitment of a full degree program. These focused learning experiences blend academic rigor with practical application and are designed specifically for working professionals seeking to enhance their leadership capabilities and strategic understanding.

Networking Events

Join our strong industry network, with individuals working at top regional, national, and international firms and businesses. Our next big alumni engagement event is an Athens Rock Lobsters hockey game on January 12.

UGA Accounting Alumni Student Stories

Our graduates do big things. The experience that unites their stories is their time at the Tull School of Accounting.

“When I was finishing my undergraduate degree in accounting and started planning for graduate school, I didn’t even think about going anywhere else to get my MAcc. Every professor I’ve had has been amazing. The faculty are so supportive, both inside and outside the classroom. I’ve also built some great friendships with my peers in Tull. Regarding recruiting, it is almost impossible to leave Tull without a good job lined up because they are so helpful in providing resources for job searching. Similarly, with the CPA exams, Tull prepared me so well. When doing my CPA review, I remembered things I learned in courses two years prior because it was taught so well.”

Rachael Whittenburg
BBA ’22, MAcc ’23

“I absolutely love the opportunities Tull has given me both in my corporate career and now back in the classroom, continuing to be a part of a program and community so dear to my heart.”

Haley Thoms
BBA ’11, MAcc ’11, current Tull professor

“Tull has been instrumental in my success as a student. This program’s rigorous curriculum and incredibly dedicated faculty have challenged me to think critically in readings, group projects, and exams.”

Zach Martin
BBA ’23, MAcc ’24
