Admissions Requirements

We value your unique experiences and perspectives. That’s why we designed the online Master of Professional Accountancy program for students who did not study accounting during their undergraduate education.

Our admission requirements ensure you’re well-prepared for the rigors of our program while recognizing the diverse paths that lead to a career in accounting.

Master’s in Professional Accountancy Prerequisites

Bachelor’s degree in a subject other than accounting from an accredited institution.
Two years of relevant, full-time work experience.
Completed Principles of Financial Accounting, Introduction to Financial Accounting, or the equivalent (Note: Applicants without this prerequisite can be provisionally admitted prior to completion of this course. UGA will offer ACCT 2101E the summer before you begin the MPAcc program.)

We do not require GMAT or GRE scores for admission to the Master of Professional Accountancy program.

International Applicants

Our fully online MPAcc program enables students from across the globe to earn their graduate degrees. We encourage international students to carefully review UGA’s international admissions requirements before applying.

We strive to make our MPAcc degree program accessible and affordable. Our online program offers the same tuition rates to both in and out-of-state students.

Funding Your Degree

Pursuing a graduate degree is an investment in your future. With financial aid options such as student loans and employer support, you can make the most of that investment. Your employer may partially or fully fund your MPAcc degree.

Can I apply if my bachelor’s degree is not in business?

Absolutely! In fact, we designed the MPAcc program specifically for those who don’t hold an undergraduate degree in accounting. Our students’ diverse backgrounds enrich our program.

If you’ve completed upper-level accounting courses, consider UGA’s Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program.

How are applications evaluated without GRE/GMAT scores?

We take a holistic approach, considering your academic history, professional experience, statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation to assess your potential for success in the program.

Can international students apply to this online program?

Yes, we welcome international applicants, however, applicants should understand that the program is based on U.S. accounting principles and tax laws, which are different from many countries.

This fully online Master of Professional Accountancy program is tailored for full-time working professionals and cannot sponsor U.S. student visas. Check visa requirements if studying from the U.S. and review your country-specific academic credentials and requirements before applying. English proficiency waivers (TOEFL or IELTS) are available for those living and working in the U.S. for two consecutive years by the program’s start.

How long does it take to complete the MPAcc program?
