Master’s in Accounting Programs at UGA

The University offers two different types of accounting master’s degrees: the Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAcc) and the Master of Accountancy (MAcc).

What is the MPAcc?

If you’re a working professional wondering how to get into and advance a career in accounting, the MPAcc program is an ideal option. We designed the program with students like you in mind — individuals who don’t possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least two years of relevant full-time work experience.

In addition to opening opportunities in the field, the MPAcc program enables you to seamlessly integrate your education into your life through a curriculum offered entirely online. Classes are asynchronous, and there are no required live meetings, so you can continue working full-time while earning your degree.

The program comprises six modules that cover accounting foundations, taxation, auditing, risk assessment and control, management, analytics, and more. Support is available through optional live office hours with faculty.

What is the MAcc?

If you have already completed a bachelor’s degree in accounting or have the required upper-level accounting prerequisite courses, you can enroll in the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program, which deepens your understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations while preparing you for leadership roles.

UGA offers the MAcc program in person at our main campus in Athens, Georgia. Three distinct tracks — Audit, Tax, and Advisory — allow you to tailor your education to your career goals. Each track provides specialized knowledge and skills for specific career paths within the accounting profession.

The MAcc program has a history of excellence — our graduates consistently boast one of the top 10 CPA pass rates in the country and enjoy a nearly 100% placement rate at “Big Four” accounting firms, regional public accounting firms, public companies, and more.
