Terry’s peer programs connect students with guidance from fellow business students at key points in their college journey—from navigating the transition into Terry to preparing for interviews and recruiting.
Undergraduate Mentorship at Terry (UMAT)
Undergraduate Mentorship at Terry is a peer-to-peer mentorship program that pairs incoming freshmen and intended Terry students with experienced juniors and seniors. UMAT offers a structured framework to help you navigate your early years at the Terry College of Business.

Terry Peer Interview Coaching (TPIC)
The Terry Peer Interview Coaching initiative provides students with interview preparation support in specific career fields. Peer coaches are available for appointments offering:
- General interview advice
- Résumé critiques
- Case, behavioral, and technical interview practice
- Interview and casing resources
- Consulting cases, IB technical
About Terry Peer Interview Coaching
Responsibilities & Benefits
The Terry Peer Interview Coaching (TPIC) peer coaches are responsible for meeting with Terry students to answer questions about desired career fields. This may include general advice, interview preparation, case interview prep, and company-specific recruiting advice. Peer coaches are available for appointments in which students may seek career advice, resume reviews, and practice behavioral or case interviews in preparation for the recruiting process.
Requirements and desired skills for TPIC
- Admitted to the Terry College of Business
- Be knowledgeable about a specific career industry
- Excellent interpersonal communication
- Positivity and enthusiasm for helping others

The Undergraduate Mentorship at Terry (UMAT) program helps first-year and intended Terry students build confidence, connection, and direction early in their college experience. Through intentional mentor-mentee matching, UMAT pairs students with experienced Terry juniors and seniors who can offer guidance on academics, campus involvement, professional development, and navigating Terry resources. Throughout the academic year, participants engage in one-on-one meetings, group events, and networking opportunities that support goal setting, community building, and a successful transition into Terry. Mentors also have the opportunity to strengthen their leadership and communication skills while giving back to the Terry community.
Mentor Eligibility Requirements
- Junior or senior admitted to the Terry College of Business.
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 preferred.
- Demonstrated involvement within Terry through clubs, organizations, and/or leadership roles.
- Complete a brief interest form, including intended major & career interests to support the mentor-mentee matching process.
Mentor Responsibilities
- Mentor Responsibilities
- Commit to serving as a mentor for one full academic year.
- Maintain regular one-on-one engagement with assigned mentees, meeting at least twice per semester to establish goals and evaluate progress, while actively participating in program group events and networking opportunities.
- Attend bimonthly check-ins with Program Leads to discuss challenges, share best practices, and help refine the program throughout the year.
Mentee Eligibility Requirements
First-year student or intended Terry College of Business student.
Complete a brief interest form, including intended major and career interests, to support the mentor-mentee matching process.
Mentee Responsibilities
- Commit to actively participating in the mentorship program for the academic year.
- Maintain regular one-on-one engagement with your assigned mentor, meeting at least twice per semester to set goals and review progress, while actively participating in group events and networking opportunities.
- Come prepared for check-ins with questions, goals, and topics for discussion.
- Communicate promptly and professionally with your mentor regarding scheduling and participation.
How are mentors and mentees matched in the UMAT program?
The UMAT program uses a brief interest form to collect students’ intended majors and career aspirations, ensuring highly intentional mentor-mentee pairings. By aligning shared academic pathways and professional goals, the matching process fosters more relevant guidance, industry-specific networking, and meaningful long-term connections from day one.
