Founder and Managing Partner at Georgia Oak Partners

Michael Lonergan partners with Georgia Oak’s portfolio companies to drive revenue growth and evaluate new investment opportunities. His Georgia roots have shaped the firm’s mission and its commitment to fostering economic growth and sustainability throughout the state and the broader Southeast.

Before founding Georgia Oak, Michael served as Vice President of Private Equity at Strategic Value Partners (SVP), a global hedge fund. Based in London, he led due diligence for control buyout transactions and evaluated credit investments as part of SVP’s “loan to own” strategy.

Previously, Michael was with Sun European Partners in London and Sun Capital Partners in Boca Raton, Florida. Earlier in his career, he worked in the Atlanta offices of Houlihan Lokey and Wells Fargo’s asset-based lending group (legacy Wachovia Bank).

Michael earned a BBA, cum laude, in Finance and Management from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. In 2018, he was named a 40 Under 40 Honoree by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and received the Emerging Leaders Award from The M&A Advisor. He remains an active alumnus of the Beta-Lambda chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
