Social Innovation Emphasis
The Georgia MBA Social Innovation emphasis prepares students to work on creative solutions to the key challenges facing business and society. As technology disrupts existing markets while creating new ones, corporations will continue to play a key role in influencing both society and government. How will the evolving landscape of business shape the future of our society? What influence will changing demographics and value systems have on global corporations and their corporate cultures? What are the evolving trends in organizational behavior, ethics, and human resource management? Our goal is to prepare future business leaders to be more responsive in a rapidly changing global environment, with increased competition for natural resources, a changing climate, and widening social inequities.
The Social Innovation emphasis can be added on to any concentration in the Full-time MBA program, and involves 15 credit hours of coursework, which includes an applied learning experience where students work on either a service learning project, a B Corp project with a corporate partner, or be selected to participate in our Non-Profit Board Fellows Program. Our students have helped organizations such as Imery Group, Ad Victoriam Solutions, and Creature Comforts Brewing Co. with their B Corp certification initiatives, worked on service learning projects with Ciné and the Clarke County School District, among others, and served on the boards of local non-profits such as Extra Special People, Athens Area Community Foundation, and Books for Keeps.
