Full-Time MBA Admission FAQs

How do I apply to the Full-Time MBA Program?
  1. Complete the online application.
  2. You will then answer several questions, upload the required application materials, and pay the application fee.
  3. You can save the application and return to it multiple times until you finish it.
  4. Do not submit the application until it is complete. You cannot change it after submitting.
Why do I need two years of work experience?

The Admissions Committee strongly prefers candidates applying to the 2-Year MBA and MBA-MSBA STEM Track to have at least two years of full-time work experience. This experience helps students connect classroom concepts to real-world situations and strengthens their competitiveness with MBA employers, who also typically prefer candidates with at least two years of experience. Entering the MBA with less professional experience may limit employment opportunities and impact your overall return on investment.

What should I include in my résumé?

Keep your resume to one page and list your experience in reverse chronological order, with the most recent first.

Include your education and employment history, with dates (month and year), job titles, and whether each position was full-time or part-time. For education, include dates of attendance and degrees earned or expected.

Use your resume to put your experiences and accomplishments into context. When possible, quantify your impact and include leadership, activities, community service, interests, and other experiences that help us learn more about you.

What are the transcript requirements?

The University of Georgia requires that all MBA applicants possess a baccalaureate degree or a foreign equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. Please refer to the Graduate School website for more information about requirements for domestic and international students. Candidates are expected to have a minimum 3.0 GPA. You can still apply if you do not meet the GPA requirement, but it is highly recommended that you submit an optional written statement addressing your academic performance.

Official transcripts will be required after admission.

What test scores do you accept?

We accept the GMAT, GRE, and Executive Assessment (EA) and do not have a minimum score requirement. We encourage applicants to review our Class Profile for recent class averages and to take plenty of time to prepare before test day.

Practice materials and registration information are available through mba.com for the GMAT and Executive Assessment and ets.org for the GRE.

Official test scores are required only after admission.

Do you offer test score waivers?

For some Full-Time MBA applicants, a standardized test score may not be needed for the Admissions Committee to evaluate their readiness and fit for the Full-Time MBA.

Factors to Consider Before Requesting a Waiver

  • A test score can help balance a weaker academic record and strengthen your application.
  • If you are planning to pursue a career in consulting or finance, employers may require a standardized test score as part of their screening process.
  • A strong test score can provide an additional data point for the Admissions Committee when evaluating 2-year Full-Time MBA candidates for graduate assistantships and scholarships.

Test Waiver Criteria

We will evaluate waiver requests on a case-by-case basis for those who meet at least one (1) of these criteria:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of full-time U.S. Military service
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant and progressive full-time*, professional work experience
  • Currently enrolled in another UGA graduate degree program

*We typically define full-time work experience as that gained after completing an undergraduate degree.

And at least one (1) of these additional criteria:

  • A strong record of academic performance from an accredited U.S. institution
  • An advanced degree (Graduate, masters, professional degrees)
  • Professional certifications with a quantitative focus (CPA, CFA, or other certification)
  • Strong performance in previous analytical or quantitative coursework

International Students are still required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores as part of the admissions process.

Meeting these criteria does not guarantee approval of a test score waiver.

What are the English Proficiency test requirements for international candidates?

Applicants who earned a degree from an institution outside the U.S. in a country where English is not the primary or official language are required to demonstrate English proficiency.

Minimum preferred scores are:

  • TOEFL: 5.0 overall score for exams taken on or after January 22, 2026 or 100 overall score for exams taken before January 21, 2026
  • IELTS: 7.0 overall band score

Official scores are required only after admission. Visit our International Students page for additional requirements and information.

Will there be an interview during the application process?

Interviews are by invitation only. After we receive and review applications, select candidates may be invited to schedule an interview. We can arrange virtual interviews for international applicants and domestic candidates unable to travel. If you attend a Campus Visit Day for your interview, your day will include:

  • A face-to-face interview with a member of the MBA Admissions Committee
  • Lunch with current MBA students
  • A class visit.

What should I include in my short written responses?

Short-written responses are a way for you to share your perspective and plans. The best responses are introspective, authentic, and succinct.

Question 1 (250 words max)
Describe your short-term career goals after completing the MBA. How have your previous experiences shaped those goals, and how do they connect to your long-term career aspirations?

Question 2 (250 words max)
Share an example of a challenge or initiative that required persistence over time. What kept you engaged until completion?

Question 3 (250 words max)
Share something about yourself that your classmates might not learn from your resume or application. Why is it meaningful to you?

Optional Written Response (250 words max)
Please use this space to share relevant information that isn’t revealed anywhere else in your application materials. The committee wants to understand you as a whole person, so use this essay to “fill any holes” in your application. For candidates applying to the Pathway MBA and our other early-career programs, this is an ideal opportunity to share additional information not included in your application, such as upcoming summer internships or work plans.

Optional Video Essay (2 minutes max)
This is an incredible way for you to show parts of yourself and your personality that are not seen elsewhere in your application. Details and prompts are available in the application.
