U.S. News & World Report once again ranked seven academic majors at the Terry College of Business among the top 20 public business schools in their respective fields.

The rankings tie a record set by the Terry College last year when all seven of its majors included in U.S. News & World Report rankings were ranked in the top 20. Once again, risk management and insurance led the way with its No. 1 ranking in the nation.

Collectively, Terry’s undergraduate program was ranked No. 23 overall and 13th among public business schools in the U.S. It marked the sixth straight year Terry is ranked among the top 25 undergraduate business programs in the nation and one of the top 15 public business schools by U.S. News.

“These rankings are evidence of the hard work and dedication we see every day from our students, faculty and staff,” said Dean Ben Ayers. “Having seven programs once again ranked in the top 20 publics displays the continued academic prominence and value we offer our students and our commitment to preparing graduates to solve tomorrow’s business challenges.”

Terry’s Risk Management and Insurance program once again led all insurance programs in the country, ranked No. 1 among programs private and public. It’s the third straight year and the fifth time since 2014 that U.S. News judged Terry’s insurance program as the best program in the country.

The Real Estate program rose two spots to No. 3 among U.S. public business schools (and No. 5 overall), while the J.M. Tull School of Accounting rose one spot to No. 8 among publics. Management Information Systems maintained its top 10 status among public business schools, coming in at No. 9.

The Finance program was ranked No. 15 among public business schools. Terry’s Marketing Department was ranked in the top 20 for the fourth time in four years by U.S. News, at No. 16 among publics, while the Management Department rose one spot to No. 17 among publics.

The Economics Department, which is housed at Terry and offers two undergraduate degree options — a Bachelor of Business Administration or a Bachelor of Arts in economics — is categorized with the social sciences by U.S. News and is not ranked at the undergraduate level by the college guide.

The annual ranking of undergraduate business programs by U.S. News & World Report is based on a reputational survey of deans and senior faculty at peer institutions accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Less than 5 percent of the more than 16,000 schools granting business degrees worldwide have earned AACSB accreditation.

The University of Georgia held fast at No. 16 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2023 ranking of the best public universities in the nation, marking the seventh consecutive year that UGA has placed in the top 20.

UGA is one of only two institutions — along with Georgia Tech — to make the top 20 from the state of Georgia. Georgia is one of only four states (including California, Florida and Virginia) to have more than one institution in the top 20. In addition, UGA and the University of Florida remain the only two institutions from the Southeastern Conference to rank in the top 20.
