A small cohort. A wide range of backgrounds. A shared interest in understanding people and solving business problems.
Each year, a select group of students joins the MMR program in Athens. With 30 or fewer students in a cohort, MMR students learn closely with one another while receiving individual attention and mentorship from faculty, alumni, and industry professionals.
Our students come from a variety of academic, professional, and personal backgrounds. Some enter MMR directly after completing their undergraduate degree, while others bring professional experience with them. What they share is intellectual curiosity, strong analytical and communication skills, and an interest in using research and data to help organizations make better decisions.

Who Thrives in MMR?
You don’t need to have majored in marketing—or already have a career in market research—to be a strong candidate.
Successful MMR students typically bring:
- Curiosity — a desire to understand why people think, behave, and make decisions the way they do.
- Analytical thinking — an interest in working with data, research methods, and quantitative analysis.
- Communication skills — the ability to explain ideas clearly and turn research into meaningful insights.
- Collaboration — a willingness to work with classmates, faculty, and industry partners.
- Academic preparation — a strong undergraduate record and the foundation needed to succeed in a rigorous, STEM-designated program.
- Motivation — a clear interest in building a career in marketing research, consumer insights, market intelligence, or related fields.
A Mix of Backgrounds
MMR students don’t all follow the same path to graduate school. Our cohorts include students who come directly from undergraduate programs as well as students with professional experience. That mix creates a classroom where students learn not only from faculty and industry professionals, but from one another.
