International Business (IB) Ambassadors
One of the best ways to learn more about Terry study away programs is to connect with our current student leaders. Our IB Ambassadors are just a few of the impressive students who enrich our programs.
The Terry IB Ambassadors program is made up of Terry students who have participated in at least one Terry study away or internship program and are enthusiastic about sharing their global experiences and the benefits of international opportunities with other Terry students.

My favorite study abroad experience was visiting Hanoi and getting to learn about Vietnamese culture through interactions with locals, museums, and monuments. I also enjoyed exploring the city and trying new foods!

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
During my internship as a Shareholder Analytics Analyst in Sydney, Australia, I visited the Great Barrier Reef. My fellow interns and I flew over the reef on a scenic tour, rode a ferry to Fitzroy Island, and took pictures with koalas.
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
As a transfer student, I was looking for ways to take additional hours, and the opportunities abroad were a fulfilling way to earn some of those credits. Having also completed multiple internships, I understand that the flexibility offered in a college student’s lifestyle will not last forever. The variety of study abroad options offered by Terry have allowed me to experience parts of the world that I may not otherwise have had the opportunity to visit.

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
My favorite study abroad memory is getting to meet the students at Universidad de Chile during the Maymester. It was a fun tour of their business college and a great experience getting to know international students. After our official tour with them, the UGA students got to spend more time with them to get to know one another. It was so cool to compare both academic and cultural differences/similarities between our two countries.
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
I chose to participate in a Terry study abroad program to learn more about how business is done internationally. My goal is to eventually live and work abroad, so experiencing this so early on in my career was very beneficial. I also love traveling and exploring new cultures, so being able to combine my passion with my academics and career path through the Terry study abroad programs felt like a win-win.

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
When in Uruguay, one of the last days of the trip we had final presentations and then the rest of the day to ourselves. Throughout the trip so many Montevideo locals told us to go to Punta del Este, a beach town popular throughout the year. As soon as we finished our presentations, all of us ran up, changed, and hopped on a 2 hour bus to Punta del Este and spent the day on the beach!
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
My older brother told me when he was graduating UGA that he wished he did a study abroad program. I entered my sophomore year realizing I wanted to make the most of college and put myself in more uncomfortable and nontraditional situations to push myself out of my boundaries, and I had never traveled without my family before. I really wanted to gain an international perspective on business that I otherwise may never do on my own anytime soon.

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
It is so difficult to choose a favorite memory, but two experiences that will stick with me forever are skydiving in Interlaken, Switzerland, and scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef. Both were incredibly exhilarating and surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. What made them even more special was getting to share those experiences with amazing people around me.
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
I chose to participate in a Terry study abroad program because I wanted to expand my worldview, build empathy, and challenge myself to learn beyond the classroom. I wanted the opportunity to immerse myself in beautiful and diverse cultures, experience new ways of life, and become more open-minded through those experiences. I truly believe that some of the greatest education comes through travel, because it allows you to learn from people, places, and perspectives you may never encounter otherwise.

Hiking Volcán Villarrica was probably the highlight of my internship as it was the most thrill-inducing and rewarding experience. Before sunrise to around noon, the snowcapped volcano pushed us to our limits, but the summit made everything worth it. Sledding down Villarica was a great reward as it turned the late afternoon into a fun experience when racing through fresh snow.
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
I was told by a family member that the best way to do business with someone is through food, sports, and experiences. That conversation taught me the importance of relationship building, building connections through a shared understanding of culture, which a study away program would help me explore. Also, I wanted a firsthand experience that showed how companies operate and the chance to meet new people. Studying away did all of this by expanding my appetite, sports knowledge, providing insight into international business, and deepening my appreciation for experiences that make relationships easier to build.

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
My favorite study-abroad experience was a full day of exploring Mumbai during the International Business in India program. We began by taking a ferry to Elephanta Island, where we saw monkeys, explored local shops, and climbed the steps to the Elephanta Caves. Visiting the caves allowed me to learn more about Indian culture, history, and religious beliefs. Afterward, we ate lunch together, shopped at Fabindia, and I purchased traditional Indian clothing, including a kurta. We ended the day with a two-and-a-half-hour street-food tour, where we sampled everything from betel leaf to popular dishes such as pani puri, vada pav, and pav bhaji.
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
I chose to participate in a Terry study-abroad program because it offered an opportunity to travel while learning more about other cultures and myself. I also wanted to meet people I otherwise may never have met—people who shared my curiosity, openness to new experiences, and interest in exploring the world. I have always enjoyed stepping into the unknown and jumping headfirst into new experiences, and studying abroad gave me the perfect opportunity to do that.

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
It’s difficult to choose a favorite memory from an entire summer of unique experiences. However, I can pinpoint a memory from each program that holds a special place in my heart. During my Business in Italy program, we took a day trip to Cinque Terre and spent an afternoon exploring its beautiful cliffside towns. My favorite part was sitting on the beach with my entire study-away group and getting to know my peers better. I began the program without knowing anyone, but I left with sixteen close friends and memories that I will cherish forever! During my Innsbruck trip, I traveled to Interlaken, Switzerland, where I had the unforgettable opportunity to go skydiving. Although I was definitely nervous, seeing the Swiss Alps from the sky was unlike anything I have ever experienced.
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
I chose to participate in a Terry study away program because I knew it would push me outside my comfort zone while also letting me experience a new culture, learn how businesses operate in a different country, and meet new people. The Business in Italy program captured everything I was looking for, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the memories I made. It helped me grow professionally and personally, and it was by far the best part of my summer.

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
It’s so difficult to choose just one favorite memory from study abroad, but one of my favorites was definitely our day trip to Bratislava! We took a river cruise from Vienna to Bratislava, where we had a visit with the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency. Then we had lunch, walked around the city, did some shopping, and walked up to the Bratislava Castle. The view of the city and the river was amazing, and the castle and its grounds were beautiful. We took the boat back to Vienna that evening. It was so fun to experience another new country and spend time with everyone in the program!
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
I chose to participate in a Terry study abroad program to have the opportunity to travel, meet new people, and get more hands-on experience with international business. Business in Europe gave me the chance to visit countries I had never been to before, and I made so many new friends with the other students in my program. I was also excited to have the opportunity to visit and learn about different companies. Through these visits, I learned a lot about international business practices, and I am grateful to have had the hands-on experience of seeing how these businesses operate. The program as a whole completely exceeded my expectations and I’m so glad I made the decision to participate!

What is your favorite study abroad memory or experience?
Day trip to Valparaíso and Viña del Mar from Santiago — such an amazing day!! We explored Valparaíso’s colorful cliffside streets, grabbed empanadas and coffee from a local café, and then headed to the coast, where some of us braved the (very!!) freezing ocean. Running in and out of the water was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Afterward, we hiked the incredible sand dunes along the coast, and that night we all met up with some students from Universidad de Chile, and it was super fun to connect with locals our age!
Why did you choose to participate in a Terry study abroad program?
I participated in the Terry program because it felt like the perfect opportunity to combine my interest in international business with my love of travel and meeting new people. As an International Business co-major, I was especially excited to visit companies abroad and learn more about how businesses operate and connect across different countries. I have always wanted to explore as much of the world as possible, so being able to experience new cultures while also learning about global business was so meaningful. I also really loved getting to know both local students and other UGA students on the trip, and making so many new friends made the experience even more incredible. It truly was the trip of a lifetime, and I would do it all over again if I could!!

Travel shouldn’t be a reward for working hard; travel is another form of education. Through the Terry study abroad programs, I have mixed passion, business, and curiosity.
