About the MAcc Program

Thank you for your interest in the J. M. Tull School of Accounting's graduate accounting programs at the University of Georgia. The Tull School of Accounting is consistently ranked in the top 10 nationally among all public and private institutions. We offer both the post-baccalaureate degree program, known as the Master of Accountancy (MAcc) and our special Five-Year Program (BBA/MAcc) reserved for current UGA students. The MAcc is a 30-semester hour program designed specifically for applicants with an undergraduate degree in accounting. The Five-Year degree allows UGA accounting majors the opportunity to complete both the Bachelor of Business Administration and MAcc degrees concurrently. Students can specialize in audit, taxation, or audit/systems.

Ninety-five percent of our applicants have or are completing accounting degrees. Though applicants are not required to have a degree in accounting, they should have completed at least the equivalent of the following accounting courses to ensure they have a comparative advantage during the review process:

  • Accounting Principles, I and II
  • Intermediate Accounting, I and II
  • Managerial/Cost I
  • Taxation I (individual income tax)

If accepted, students may be required to take additional accounting and business foundation courses while enrolled, if not completed prior to admission. Specific business and accounting foundation courses are listed under MAcc Curriculum.

Applications are accepted for admission for both Fall and Spring sessions and limited Summer admission for those participating in summer accounting internships for credit. To receive serious consideration, the MAcc Admissions Committee recommends that candidates have at least a 550 GMAT and a 3.00 for both the overall GPA and upper-level accounting. GRE scores are not accepted. Meeting the suggested minimums does not guarantee admission as recent MAcc class GMAT scores and GPAs are significantly higher than the suggested minimums. The combination of an increased number of applications and limited number of seats in the program requires our Admissions Committee to be extremely selective.

Once you apply and pay your application fee, you will be able to follow the progress of your application via an "Admissions Tracking Screen" provided by the Graduate School. Complete applications are reviewed and a recommendation forwarded to the Graduate School. The Graduate School makes the final determination on the applicant's status and sends a final notification by mail.

Please review this information for specific details, requirements, and links to the application materials. Current tuition information is at the UGA Bursar's website.
