As a management professor and leadership program director, Stacy Campbell has spent her career studying and teaching the qualities and experiences that produce successful leaders.
Campbell brings this expertise to the University of Georgia as the new director of the Institute for Leadership Advancement at the Terry College of Business, beginning July 1.
For the past 10 years, Campbell has served as executive director of the Coles Scholars Program at Kennesaw State University. Before she joined Kennesaw State’s management faculty in 2007, Campbell graduated with a doctoral degree in organizational behavior from the Terry College.
“We are excited to welcome Stacy to the Institute for Leadership Advancement and look forward to her building upon ILA’s positive momentum and great student outcomes entering its third decade of leadership education,” said Dean Ben Ayers.
“We’re also grateful to Laura Little as she steps away as ILA’s longest-serving director,” Ayers added. “Laura leaves an indelible mark on the program. She helped to secure a transformational gift from Chick-fil-A and grew the scope and impact of ILA’s programs on and off campus.”
Little is returning to full-time teaching and research in the Management Department and will continue to teach courses in ILA’s curriculum.
Campbell is the fifth person to be named ILA’s director. Before her doctoral studies¸ she worked in the change management practice of The North Highland Company in Atlanta and as a management consultant for KPMG. She received a master’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in economics and psychology from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania.
Since its founding in 2000, the Institute for Leadership Advancement has trained more than 1,500 values-based, impact-driven leaders through its innovative certificate programs that combine coursework with service-learning opportunities.
In 2021, ILA expanded its public outreach efforts by launching the Leadership Dawgs program. The yearlong leadership program for UGA alumni provides off-campus leadership development experiences and partners alumni with nonprofits to complete a community improvement project.
