ILA Community-Impact Projects

Leaders who significantly impact their community help shape a more vibrant, innovative and resilient society. Their influence extends beyond immediate improvements associated with the project, laying the groundwork for long-term prosperity and stability.

ILA strengthens Terry’s mission of educating and inspiring future leaders through servant-leadership by utilizing a service-learning approach to design projects that will have a direct impact on the community. These projects allow students to apply their strengths while addressing real-world challenges faced by nonprofits or local communities, making an impact in the state of Georgia. Through their involvement in SLPs, students gain hands-on experience in problem-solving, project management, and effective collaboration. Most importantly, ILA students experience firsthand the leadership concepts of “contributing to the community and giving back to others.” At the undergraduate level students work on service-learning projects
(SLPs) and UGA alumni (through Leadership Dawgs) work on community-impact
projects (CIPs).

Additionally, these projects are helping the University make extraordinary
progress across our public service and outreach efforts. Supporting communities
across the state.

ILA students worked with former UGA football player Malcolm Mitchell to promote his nonprofit Share the Magic, a literary foundation encouraging students to find books that inspire them, during a reading rally at Barrow Elementary School.
