Department of Management ranks 12th in research productivity

Terry’s Department of Management was ranked the 12th most productive in North America in 2013 by a study from Texas A&M University and the University of Florida.

The rankings are based on an analysis of the eight top-tier journals in the management field. Management productivity rankings have been published by Texas A&M University for the past seven years, and are based on an analysis of published articles in Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal.

Georgia was tied for 12th with nine top-tier articles. The 10 most productive schools included Minnesota, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn, Harvard, Penn State, Maryland, Arizona State, Texas, Indiana and Texas A&M. Georgia’s ranking is particularly impressive because its Department of Management is smaller than the corresponding departments at those schools. The same rankings placed Georgia 16th in productivity over the past five years.
