Employment survey shows highest placement rate yet for Terry graduates

A record 91 percent of Terry undergraduates and 93 percent of MBAs were employed within three months of graduation, according to the programs’ surveys of Class of 2016 graduates.

“This is the highest employment rate we have ever recorded for a class of BBA and Full-Time MBA graduates,” said Terry College Dean Benjamin C. Ayers. “With this latest accomplishment, our placement rate is above 90 percent – and in some cases 100 percent – for all of our master’s and bachelor’s degree programs.

“That is a tremendous assurance of program quality and a real testament to the abilities of our faculty, advisors and support staff who work so hard to help our students achieve their educational and career goals. I could not be more proud of what these milestones represent for our students,” Ayers said.

The data for the annual surveys were collected this summer by the Terry College MBA Career Management Center and the Office of Undergraduate Student Services and Corporate Relations.

“What’s most impressive is how career-minded the students are,” said Shannon Caldwell, director of the MBA Career Management Center. “The students are focused on having an impact. We help them identify the ways that their skills can make a difference in the marketplace and connect them with the organizations who need those skills.”

Many of the students who have accepted job offers joined some of the most familiar names in business. Terry’s top employers this year include AT&T, The Coca-Cola Co., Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Fiserv, Georgia-Pacific Corp., KPMG, PwC, and SunTrust Banks.

“This past year, we had more employers come to the Athens campus than ever before and more students actively engaged with career planning to help them land great jobs,” said Lisa Meadows, director of Terry’s Undergraduate Student Services and Corporate Relations. “Each year we have seen the increased benefit of our efforts to bridge the gap between employers and our undergraduates.”
