For the first time, all eight academic majors at the Terry College of Business are nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report. Collectively, Terry’s undergraduate program is ranked 13th among public business schools and No. 23 overall.
The annual U.S. News survey marked the eighth straight year that the University of Georgia’s business school is ranked among the top 15 undergraduate programs at the nation’s best public universities.
“We are pleased to have all our undergraduate programs ranked prominently among the top business schools,” said Dean Ben Ayers. “This ranking reflects positively on our student outcomes, the efforts of our faculty and staff, the support from the state of Georgia and our alumni and friends, and our collective commitment to excellence across our programs.”
Every undergraduate major at the Terry College was ranked by U.S. News, with four of the eight majors ranked among the nation’s top 10 public programs in their respective fields. Terry’s Business Analytics program also was ranked by U.S. News’ undergraduate survey for the first time, at No. 13 among public business schools. Analytics is offered as a 12-credit hour “area of emphasis” available to every business major at Terry.
Terry’s Risk Management and Insurance program, which boasts the country’s largest undergraduate RMI major, once again led all insurance programs in the country, ranked No. 1 overall. It’s the fifth straight year that Terry’s insurance program has been judged to have the best reputation in the country by U.S. News.
The Real Estate program rose one spot to No. 3 overall (No. 2 public), its highest ranking in a decade. Management Information Systems (No. 9 public and No. 12 overall) and the J.M. Tull School of Accounting (No. 9 public and No. 15 overall) are Terry’s other top 10 public programs, according to U.S. News.
The Marketing program, ranked No. 11 among public business schools, received its highest public program ranking from U.S. News in more than a decade. Finance was ranked in the top 20 for the third time in four years, at No. 12 among publics. And the Management program, at No. 14 among publics, achieved a top 20 ranking for the fourth straight year. The John Munro Godfrey, Sr. Department of Economics received a top 30 public program ranking, out of more than 300 accredited economics programs that were ranked by U.S. News, the largest specialty ranking by far.
The annual ranking of undergraduate business programs by U.S. News & World Report is based on a reputational survey of deans and senior faculty at peer institutions accredited by AACSB International. Only 6% of the world’s business schools have achieved AACSB accreditation.
In addition to the U.S. News rankings, Niche.com, which ranks and reviews colleges and K-12 schools, recently ranked the Terry College as one of its top 10 “Best Colleges for Business in America.” Niche ranked Terry’s undergraduate program No. 5 overall and No. 1 among public universities for business. Niche also ranked Terry’s Accounting and Finance programs No. 5 overall and No. 2 among public universities.
U.S. News ranked the University of Georgia among its top 20 public universities for the ninth consecutive year. UGA climbed two spots to No. 18 in a tie with Purdue University and the University of Washington. UGA and Georgia Tech are the only public universities from the state of Georgia to be ranked in the top 20. Georgia and California are the only two states to have more than one institution in the top 20.
