Timothy (Tim) Quigley

Tim is the Georgia Athletic Association Professor of Management in the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. He holds a PhD in Strategic Management from Penn State’s Smeal College of Business. He also graduated from Penn State with an Executive MBA and a BS in Exercise Science.

Tim studies corporate governance with a particular focus on CEOs, the impact they have on their organizations, and how this is affected by various factors including prior experiences and compensation. His work has been published in a range of outlets, including Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journaland Organization Science. His work has been covered by media outlets such as Bloomberg, BusinessWeek, Financial Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and Fortune. Tim is an Associate Editor with Strategic Management Journal.

He teaches courses related to strategic management, executive decision making, and statistics.

Before entering academia, Tim worked in several information technology related roles at startups and larger firms. He also worked as a Program Manager and Coach at the Lehigh Valley Velodrome, a non-profit cycling facility in Pennsylvania. In his younger days, Tim was a competitive cyclist on the US National team, won several national championships, and was an alternate on the 1992 Olympic Team.
