While the search for a permanent dean to lead the Terry College of Business continues, former UGA President Charles B. Knapp has agreed to remain in his role as interim dean of the college.
“I’m honored to serve the Terry College and the University of Georgia,” Knapp said, “however this isn’t permanent. The Terry College needs long-term leadership, and I’m confident that UGA will find the right candidate.”
The announcement was made in a March 17 email from Pamela Whitten, UGA Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
“During my first weeks at UGA as Provost, I had the opportunity to meet with four excellent Terry College dean candidates during their campus visits,” she wrote. “Each of the candidates offered important strengths and skills and is to be commended for impressive academic and administrative credentials. However, based on feedback from the university community and my assessment of the Terry College’s future needs, I feel that we have not yet identified a candidate who is the right fit. At this time, the search remains open as we explore our options. Please accept my thanks for your patience as we search for the next dean to lead the Terry College of Business.”
Knapp was the President of the University of Georgia from 1987 to 1997. He came to the Terry College in July 2013.
