Terry College sales students rank top four in the nation

Professional sales students seal the deal at national competition

While the Georgia Bulldogs were on the field in Jacksonville, the Terry College’s Sales Dawgs were also in Florida competing for bragging rights at the “Collegiate World Cup of Sales” in Orlando.

It’s the first time in a decade that Terry sales students competed at the International Collegiate Sales Competition, hosted by the Sales Institute at Florida State University. Out of 81 universities and more than 400 competitors, Terry’s team ranked fourth in total points amassed, said Cindy Rippé, senior marketing lecturer and Terry’s personal sales coach.

“Guided by their hard work, resilience, and my amazing co-coach Chelsea Whitten Gachette, this team poured countless hours into their impressive debut,” Rippé said.

This year’s ICSC sales competition team included marketing students Lauren Turner, Jordan Davis, Charlie Pansing, Joshua Krebs and management and marketing double major Connor Johnson. Each team member is part of the Terry College’s professional selling area of emphasis.

The competition comprises several sections, and this year’s team excelled across the board, earning it the competition’s Rookie of the Year award, Rippé said.

Pansing, Krebs and Johnson competed in the Sales Management Case Competition and made it the final round of 12 teams. Johnson and Krebs competed in the speed sales competition, and Turner and Davis made it to the semifinal round of the sales role-playing competition.

Terry College’s professional sales area of emphasis trains students in consultative and needs-based selling through hands-on sales practice and experiential learning. Students have the opportunity to compete in competitions judged by industry experts. The program focuses on preparing students for a career in professional selling through career events and exposure to sales professionals with our corporate partners.
