The Terry College of Business marked its fourth straight year of being ranked among the top 25 undergraduate business programs in the nation and one of the top 15 public business schools by U.S. News & World Report.

In addition to its No. 24 ranking overall and No. 14 ranking among public institutions, the Terry College also had four of its academic majors ranked among the nation’s very best.

Terry’s Risk Management and Insurance program led all insurance programs in the country, ranked No. 1 overall. It’s the third time since 2014 that Terry’s RMI program has been judged to have the best reputation in the country by U.S. News.

The Real Estate program rose one spot to No. 6 (3rd among publics), the J.M. Tull School of Accounting climbed four spots to No. 13 (7th among publics) and Management Information Systems reached No. 14 (10th among publics).

“As a college, we are constantly focused on how we can create as much educational value for our students and broaden their opportunities after graduation,” said Terry College of Business Dean Benjamin C. Ayers. “The improvements we have made over the past five years to innovate our programs and expand our facilities are leading to impressive outcomes for our students and prominent recognition for our programs.

“Completion of the $140 million Business Learning Community is a transformative change to the heart of the UGA campus,” Ayers said. “And with the opening of Studio 225 as the new home of student entrepreneurship, we are even better positioned with the UGA Innovation District to teach students how to identify opportunities and solve the challenges of tomorrow. Having the advantage of world-class facilities and leading faculty, we will continue to innovate and create great value throughout our degree and certificate programs.”

The annual ranking of undergraduate business programs is based on a reputational survey of deans and senior faculty at peer institutions accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

For the Risk Management and Insurance program, its reputation is built upon the quality of its students and graduates and the impact of its scholarly research, said Rob Hoyt, the Dudley L. Moore Jr. Chair of Insurance and head of the Department of Insurance, Legal Studies and Real Estate.

“We are certainly thrilled to be recognized for the quality of our RMI program through this No. 1 ranking,” Hoyt said. “I believe that the combination of high-caliber graduates and top-notch faculty, who were recently ranked No. 1 for research output in the top risk management and insurance journal, contributes to our national reputation.”

The University of Georgia also advanced in this year’s ranking of the best public universities released by U.S. News & World Report. UGA is ranked No. 15 with the University of Illinois, marking the fifth consecutive year that UGA has placed in the top 20.

UGA is one of two institutions — along with the Georgia Institute of Technology — to make the top 20 from the state of Georgia. Georgia is one of only four states (including California, Virginia and Florida) to have more than one institution in the top 20. In addition, UGA and the University of Florida are the only two institutions from the Southeastern Conference to be ranked in the top 20.
