Netter named head of Terry’s finance department

Veteran researcher Jeffry Netter has been named head of Terry’s finance department, effective Aug. 15.

Netter is the Georgia Bankers Association Chair of Banking, a Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professor and an adjunct professor in UGA’s School of Law. He has served as interim head of the department since 2011.

“I’m very pleased to appoint Jeff Netter as Head of the Finance Department,” said Charles B. Knapp, interim dean of the Terry College. “He has done an excellent job as interim Head while still maintaining a both very productive research program and his status as one of the top teachers in the University. Jeff has the full support of his colleagues and I know he will provide effective leadership to the Finance Department in the years ahead.”

Netter, an expert on corporate governance and public choice, succeeds Annette Poulsen, who served as department head until 2011.

A managing editor of the Journal of Corporate Finance, Netter earned a JD from Emory, a PhD and a Masters degree from Ohio State, and a bachelors from Northwestern University, all in economics.
