Merit Aid Awards

We’re committed to helping the best and brightest succeed.

That’s why we offer select merit awards based on your academic and professional achievements. All applicants are automatically considered—there is no separate application process for merit aid.

Graduate Assistantships

A graduate assistantship not only reduces the cost of your education, but also provides income to help cover your living expenses. The benefits include:

  • Tuition reduced to $25 per semester
  • 40% of student health insurance premium paid by UGA
  • A monthly stipend for working 13 hours per week in the Terry College of Business.
  • For the 2019–2020 academic year, the annual assistantship stipend per MBA will be approximately $9,800 for 10 months.
  • Up to 90% of the incoming two-year class is awarded an assistantship.

Thanks to our generous alumni and donors, we offer scholarships that range from $5,000 to $20,000 to applicants whose academic performance, workplace achievements, leadership potential, and diverse experiences bring unique perspectives to the class. Below is a partial list of our scholarship opportunities based on academic achievement, residency, and diversity. All applicants are considered for scholarship funding.

Academic Achievement

Thilo Best MBA Assistantship and Fellowship Fund provides a two-year assistantship and an additional scholarship of $2,000.

Georgia Power MBA Assistantship Fund provides a tuition waiver, an assistantship stipend, and additional $4,500 for each of the two years of the program.

Lorberbaum Fellowship Fund provides five students with $10,000 per year for two years. The Lorberbaum Fellows will be among the best applicants to the College's Full-Time MBA Program. All Fellows will have excellent GMAT scores, a strong record in previous academic work, and will have work experiences that contribute to the learning opportunities in the MBA Program.

C. Herman and Mary Virginia Terry Scholarship supports deserving students with amounts ranging from $1,000 to $20,000.

Terry Excellence Fund awards are given to highly qualified applicants in amounts ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.

Georgia Residents

M. Monroe Kimbrel MBA Scholarship is given to a resident of Georgia who demonstrates high moral and ethical character and maintains high academic standards. In 2000, the Watson-Brown Foundation fully endowed an MBA scholarship at the Terry College of Business to honor the memory of M. Monroe Kimbrel, an original trustee of the Foundation and a 1936 honors graduate of Terry College. The scholarship provides the recipient with a $12,500 scholarship and a $7,500 stipend for those who pursue a non-profit internship. 

Citizens Community Bank Scholarship is awarded to residents of southern GA counties who have scored highly on the GMAT and have a high undergraduate grade point average.

Diversity Candidates

Catalina Del Corral Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Latin American student.

Julie E.M. Sinha MBA Scholarship is awarded to a qualified female candidate.

Yellow Ribbon Scholarship Program: We offer two $9,000 scholarships on a first-come, first-served basis for veterans of the U.S. military that are matched dollar-for-dollar by the federal government.  This award can be combined with the Out-of-State Tuition Differential Waivers available to active and recently separated (within 36 months) military personnel to significantly defray the cost of education.

Leadership Scholarship

We award one Terry MBA Leadership Scholarship, ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 annually, in the spring semester to a current MBA student. As a Full-Time MBA student, you can nominate yourself based on:

  • Leadership contributions through formal leadership roles in the business clubs, MBA program-wide events, community service, or other extracurricular activities
  • Informal leadership qualities through classroom performance, team relationships, and peer interactions
  • Personal recommendations from a faculty member, a coach, and a fellow MBA student

Information on the nomination process is provided to students each spring.
