Eric Tonn (BBA '09)
Eric Tonn is currently the Regional Manager for Chubb’s Southeast Region Global Casualty – Foreign team. Following his first job in Denver, CO, with managing general underwriter OnPoint Underwriting’s tribal insurance unit, Eric accepted a role in Alpharetta, GA, with ACE Foreign Casualty in January 2012. In this role, he underwrote the foreign operations of US-based companies across a broad range of industries, including poultry production, cosmetics and beauty supplies, technology/aerospace, and industrial valve manufacturing.
After three years in underwriting roles of increasing responsibility as part of the Foreign Casualty team, Eric was tabbed to participate in Chubb Internal Audit’s Underwriter Global Rotation Program beginning in January 2015. As one of three members of the Program’s inaugural class, Eric gained invaluable experience auditing internal business processes of a wide array of business units. Examples include Medical Risk (US), Professional Liability/Errors & Omissions (US), Excess Liability (Bermuda), Political Risk & Trade Credit (London and Singapore), Commercial Claims (Indonesia), and several others. During the Program, Eric spent one year in Philadelphia followed by three months each in London and Singapore, lending insight as an auditor with field underwriting experience.
Following his rotation in Singapore, Eric returned to Alpharetta in July 2016 and assumed his current role leading the Foreign Casualty team of which he was previously a part. As Regional Manager, Eric leads a team of three to four underwriters with a renewal portfolio of 85 to 90 accounts accounting for gross written premium of nearly $6.6 million. Eric’s responsibilities include guiding overall regional strategy, stewarding current accounts, maintaining and growing regional broker relationships, coordinating multi-line Chubb solutions, and developing members of his team.
Eric graduated summa cum laude in 2009 from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business with dual majors in Risk Management & Insurance and Real Estate; he also holds designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM). An avid fan of both the Georgia Bulldogs and the New York Yankees, Eric lives in Sandy Springs, GA, with his wife Kimberly (a fellow Dawg), his son Eli (2 1/2), and his (soon-to-arrive) daughter.
Chance Mann (BBA '05)
Chance Mann is presently an Executive Underwriter on Chubb’s Southeast Region Global Casualty – Domestic team. Chance began his career in 2005 on the brokerage side of the business; working first with Gallagher Healthcare Insurance Services in Houston, TX as an Account Technician. In 2007, Chance accepted an Asst. Account Manager position with the Energy and Marine Unit of Alliant Insurance Services. Then, in 2010, Chance elected to pursue an opportunity on the carrier side of the business when he accepted an Underwriter role with ACE Risk Management in Houston. In this role, there was heavy focus on the operations of companies working in the energy space. Risks included, but were not limited to, upstream, midstream and downstream operators, refiners, utilities and energy services providers.
Following three years of working for ACE Risk Management in Houston, Chance transferred to the ACE office in Alpharetta, GA. Over the past five years, Chance has underwritten a variety of risks – retail, energy, travel centers, financial services and building services – to name a few. Presently, Chance handles a book of eight accounts which range in annual revenue from several hundred million dollars to in excess of $25B. His responsibilities include the renewal of these accounts, the day-to-day management of these accounts, internal coordination on account specific issues, the development of external relationships and the writing of new account business.
Chance graduated in 2005 with a degree in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. Chance lives in Alpharetta with his wife of seven years, Megan, and their two kids Austin (3 1/2) and Emily (18 months). While life doesn’t really allow for hobbies these days, he does love to cook and enjoys spending time on his back deck with his Big Green Egg.
