Supporting the Terry Women’s Initiative
Developing confident leaders and student success
Established in 2016, the Terry Women’s Initiative (TWI) instills confidence and leadership skills in Terry’s student body. TWI offers an array of programming to build connections with alumni and industry professionals, helping students achieve their academic, personal and professional goals.
Ensuring TWI’s Future
The Terry Excellence Fund supports critical funding for TWI, with six founding donors providing the seed money to kickstart this program. Now, with eight years of proven success, it’s time to permanently endow a program that is part of the fabric of the Terry College experience.
A $1.5 million endowment is needed to sustain the quality programming, immersion experiences, and experiential nature of the Terry’s Women’s Initiative. A few alumnae have already committed to building this endowment. Still, we need others to join and help us secure the foundation that will enable us to provide the unique and life-changing offerings of the Terry Women’s Initiative in perpetuity.
Programming Highlights
The Terry Women’s Initiative provides experiences and resources for students of all majors, genders, and degree types with opportunities to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals.
Sea Island Scholars
Top students selected for this program experience an inside look at the Sea Island Resort. During the weekend experience, they grow and develop through lectures, discussion and mentoring from top alumnae leaders, team building, small group fellowship and various outdoor activities.
Recruitment Prep Dinner
Through this popular program, students prepare to interact with recruiters and professionals at the annual UGA Career Fair. They enjoy a three-course meal while a certified etiquette expert leads a discussion on general business etiquette, professional attire, and how to interact with employers at dining and social events.
De-Stress Fest
Prior to final exams, De-Stress Fest arms students by providing resources, services, and activities supporting mental wellness, health and nutrition, and anxiety management. TWI collaborates with UGA partners, Terry women’s student organizations, and local therapy dog nonprofits to provide this popular collegewide program.
Learning from the Pros
Students sharpen their Terry Edge through panels, workshops, and presentations designed to introduce them to several career paths, increase confidence, and teach professional and soft skills while building a strong professional network.
Student-Faculty Lunch
At this annual lunch, students establish and grow relationships with Terry faculty while learning from a keynote speaker presenting a timely topic related to student success and well-being.
Golf Clinic
During this interactive lesson from golf professionals at the UGA Golf Course, students work on putting, chipping, and driving to increase confidence and skills and learn about the sport’s role in business and networking.
And MOre…
TWI sponsors additional engagements such as Coffee and Conversations, Terry Talks, corporate site visits, health and wellness programming, and student-led panels. Through your support, we can provide even more opportunities.
2023–2024 TWI Events by the Numbers
It fostered a spirit of collaboration and empowerment that I carry with me to this day. TWI instilled in me a commitment to supporting and uplifting others and continues to influence my approach to leadership and organizational development. I am forever grateful for the experiences and relationships I built through TWI, as they were instrumental in shaping my career and personal journey.”
Thank you for your support
