UGA Gwinnett Students Shine at Winter GAEL
Five EdD in Educational Leadership candidates from UGA Gwinnett presented at the Georgia
Association of Educational Leaders Winter Conference in Athens. Clifton Alexander,
Cluster Superintendent, Gwinnett County Schools; Amy Bartlett, Director of Curriculum
and Instruction, Forsyth County Schools; Tiffany Lee Frachiseur, Chief Academic Officer,
Paulding County Schools; Amanda Lewallen, Assistant Director of K-12 Programs, Hall
County Schools; and Lee Anne Rice, Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning,
Forsyth County Schools presented with UGA Gwinnett Educational Administration and
Policy faculty members Dr. Jami Berry, Dr. Kaneshia Dorsan, and Dr. Karen Bryant. The session entitled Real Leadership for Literacy provided an interactive conversation
with district leaders from four different school districts in Georgia and UGA educational
leadership faculty members involved in literacy leadership initiatives related to
House Bill 538. Participants engaged in an interactive discussion about the district’s
role in supporting direct instruction in the Foundations of Literacy. Everyone left
with strategies and resources to help enhance literacy instruction in their schools
and districts.
UGA SBDC receives multi-million dollar federal grant
The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center (UGA SBDC) has been named
a sub-recipient in the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) Grant. A $6.2 million grant funded by the U.S. Department of Treasury and administered through the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA); this grant was created to expand business assistance for small businesses that have
difficulty accessing traditional banking opportunities. Read more about the grant
