ECON 8610 - Monetary and Banking Theory
This seminar-style course will provide an overview of monetary and banking theory. The emphasis will be on the micro-foundations of monetary exchange and of money demand and supply and on the macro-implications of monetary and banking system disturbances. Some of the topics to be discussed will include the rationale of monetary exchange, the evolution of money, the theory of price-level adjustment, inflation, deflation, and banking panics.
