Peter Shedd

Peter J.
Shedd is
an emeritus University
Professor of Legal
Studies in the Terry College
of
Business. He also was a Josiah Meigs
Distinguished Teaching Professor. During January-April, 2009, Professor
Shedd was a Visiting Professor in the Stephen M. Ross School
of Business at the University of Michigan. Professor Shedd has written
numerous articles and books on a
variety
of commercial law topics. He also has earned
recognition
as an outstanding teacher and was named the Georgia Professor of
the Year in 1993 by the Council for the Advancement and Support of
Education. From
1994 through 1997, he was an active
participant
in a national project involving the Peer Review of Teaching
Effectiveness
sponsored by the American Association of Higher Education.
In addition to his teaching and research
responsibilities, Professor
Shedd
has served as the Associate Dean of the Terry College of Business, as
Executive
Assistant to the University of Georgia
President, and as Interim Vice President for Instruction at UGA.
During his service in the Office of the Vice President of Instruction,
the University created its Freshman
College Summer Experience Program and its Teaching Academy.
Previously, Professor Shedd served as the Faculty Director of the
Governor's Leadership Institute and is the Director of the Terry College's fulltime MBA
Program. From 2006 to 2008, he was Director of the MBA Program in the Terry
College.
He has also been active in numerous
university-related committees. In
1994,
Professor Shedd was elected to the Executive Committee of the Academy
of Legal Studies in Business. From November 1995
through
May, 1997, he was the Director of the Education and Training Program of
the Consortium on Negotiation and
Conflict
Resolution. Professor Shedd is a member of the State
Bar of Georgia. He also is an experienced
mediator
and arbitrator.
