Mary Elizabeth Kelly Mustard was born to David
B. and Elizabeth J. Mustard at 4:22 pm on Thursday 11 Nov. 2004--Veteran's
Day. Both baby and mom are fine. The 14-hour labor went well, and was much shorter than labor for the other two children.
Mary weighted 7 pounds 8 ounces and was 20.75 inches long. She was slightly
taller than both her brothers, but more than a pound less than David Andrew and nearly a pound less than Stephen.
The name Mary was the favorite of Elizabeth's and
David Andrew's right from the time we learned we would have a baby. It
is the middle name of Elizabeth's grandmother, Margaret Mary Perry. Also,
David's great grandmother Marie was called Mary. Mary's first middle
name--Elizabeth--honors her mother, and we liked the connection with
the Biblical cousins.
Kelly is the maiden name of David's grandmother--Edith Janet--who never
had a granddaughter or great granddaughter, but always wanted one. We
learned that we were pregnant on March 17, 2004, which would have been
her 94th birthday.
