American Business Studies
Business Intelligence / Management Information Systems
(specifically: Knowledge Management and Collaborative Computing/Group Support Systems)

Jay E. Aronson

Institut d'Administration des Enterprises
Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3

Brief Course Description:

This portion of the course involves primarily learning about knowledge, knowledge management, knowledge management systems, and collaborative computing / Group Support Systems (GSS). The focus is on managerial issues involved in capturing, managing and distributing knowledge proactively, and active collaboration leading to major levels of competitive advantage for organizations. Most issues involving these information systems are not technical in nature, but are actually behavioral.

Instead of providing hard copy of reading material and (Powerpoint) lecture notes, I have provided these via the Web from this Web site (see links below for all the course materials).

This course requires active participation (speak up) and attendance (I take attendance every day).
Bring with you 10 or more index cards (approximate dimensions: 4.6 cm. by 12.7 cm.) to class for me to collect every day.
There are cases to be read, questions to be answered, and there will be a multiple choice exam on the last day of class.
