Instructions for Use of Bulletin Board
As predicted in the syllabus, a Bulletin Board has been established for this class. The Bulletin Board allows you to leave comments about the course; these comments can be observed by all your classmates (and by me). In your messages, you can comment on, ask questions about, or generally discuss class material, respond to comments or questions left by other students, announce study-group sessions, etc. I will check the BB frequently, and add my comments when appropriate.
The BB uses the University's WebCT system. Some special procedures must therefore be followed in order to access the BB page. In particular, you'll be asked to give a "User ID" and a "Password."
Your "User ID" is constructed as follows. Use your first-name initial, your middle-name initial, and the letters from your last name, up to a maximum of eight total letters. All letters should be typed lowercase, and there should be no spaces. Ex: the User ID for Gregory A. Trandel would be gatrande; for John H. Doe, jhdoe. If you have no middle name, use your first-name initial, and then the letters from your last name (again up to maximum of eight total letters).
The first time you access the WebCT page, use the first 5 digits of your university ID number as your "Password." During this first visit, you should change your password (instructions for so doing are on the page). [This is obvious, but make sure to pick a new password that you'll remember.]
