ECON 4750/6750
Introduction to Econometrics
Fall 2008
The Project

Home > Project

The project involves an empirical application of econometric techniques, a paper that reports the results of the application and an in-class presentation of the paper.
The first step in your project is selecting an application or question to be addressed. Original applications are encouraged, but you are free to search the economics literature for empirical papers that consider simple econometric models and either replicate or extend a particular study.

Paper and Presentation Structure

The paper's structure is given in the table below.  Presentations should follow the same basic structure.  Each team/individual must submit a 1-page typed proposal that describes the empirical question, econometric model and data no later than Mon, Nov 3. The final draft of the paper is due on Tue, Dec 9.

Papers written by 4750 teams should be 8-10 pages; those written by 6750 individuals should be 12-15 pages.  A copy of your Stata do-file and log must be turned in with the paper. You will have 15 minutes to present your paper; presentations will be scheduled for the final 3 class periods of the semester.
