 NATURE OF WORK

This is limited para-professional teaching in the Day Care Program at the Child Development Laboratory.

Work involves the supervision of learning and child care activities for infants through kindergarten age children and assisting the head teacher with individual or small group instruction. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a professional instructor.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

Assists in the preparation of teaching materials and bulletin boards.

Performs general housekeeping duties.

Plays learning games with children.

Prepares and serves meals.

Assists in individual and small group instruction.

Performs related duties as required.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Some knowledge of the behavioral attributes of children.

Ability to learn assigned tasks.

Ability to read and write.

Ability to relate to small children.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of the eighth grade of high school and some experience working with children; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
