NATURE OF WORK
This is manual, technical, and supervisory work in directing student workers in a variety of laboring tasks. An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for supervising and participating in the work of a group of student workers, including technical services, in setting up for concerts, stage shows, and the taking of identification card pictures. Assignments are made in the form of written or oral instructions and may be accompanied by sketches, etc. Work is ordinarily performed independently, subject to review by a professional staff member and by observation of results.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Assists programming staff in the production of concerts and stage shows.
Assumes the responsibility for setting up and operating spotlights.
Assists with setting up and operation of sound systems.
Works as stage manager for show production, including assisting the performing groups in unloading and loading their equipment.
Assists the Operations Specialist with the operation of the Student Activities Game Room by acting as the game room manager.
Supervises the work of student employees.
Maintains game room equipment.
Assists the Operations Specialist with the production of student, staff, faculty, and dependent identification cards.
Sets up and operates ID equipment for orientation, registration, and replacement ID's; maintains ID equipment.
Performs related work as required.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of the hazards and necessary safety precautions in general labor and electric work.
Ability to use a variety of standard hand tools.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor, often under adverse conditions.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to supervise the work of others.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams.
Skill in the setting up and operation of sophisticated sound and lighting equipment.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school or vocational-technical school with training and experience in a technical area dealing with electronics; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
