 NATURE OF WORK

This is clerical and field work taking inventories.

Work involves performance of routine work in taking physical inventories of institution property, including marking of capital items and searching for lost items. Field work is performed with relative independence and involves extensive contact with department heads and other institution officials. The employee in this class performs duties in accordance with established procedures and regulations and makes independent inventories and searches. Instructions are normally received on each assignment; independent work is reviewed primarily through analysis of results obtained.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

Takes inventories of institution property and equipment involving considerable contact with department heads and other institution officials.

Identifies new inventory items by attaching decals as directed; applies preservative to decals.

Searches for lost inventory items and verifies location of others; replaces damaged or worn decals.

Performs related work as required.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.

Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.

Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with officials and others contacted during the course of work.

Willingness to perform assigned tasks.

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from a standard high school, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
