NATURE OF WORK
This is routine work in delivering merchandise, packages, supplies, and creamery products to serve the university campus and surrounding area.
Work involves loading, delivering, and collecting on foot and/or by truck; duties also include performing such related tasks as packaging, sorting, notifying persons of packages received, cleaning storerooms, and order-taking for future delivery. Most work is performed with little direct supervision and is reviewed by observation of results.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Delivers supplies and packages on foot and by truck to the various departments of the university.
Assists in sorting incoming and outgoing mail; notifies persons of packages that have been received.
Delivers creamery products on regular route; takes orders for future delivery; assists in creamery salesroom.
Loads and unloads trucks with merchandise, supplies, and packages for delivery; boxes orders; cleans warehouse storerooms.
Makes daily trips to bank and makes deposits.
Performs related work as required.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of the location of campus organizations and offices.
Ability to work from oral and written instructions.
Ability to keep routine clerical records.
Ability to meet and deal with people in a pleasant and courteous manner.
Skill in operating trucks.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school; and some experience in light truck driving and in work providing familiarity with the location of campus organizations and offices; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
