NATURE OF WORK

This is technical work in monitoring and controlling computer system scheduling problems.

An employee allocated to this class of work is responsible for scheduling operational systems to meet shift production requirements. Priorities are reviewed to ensure that production schedules are met and control procedures are reviewed to ensure production control. Work is reviewed for accuracy and the extent to which an employee is successful in meeting production schedules.

Modifies systems schedules.

Reviews priorities in order to ensure that production schedules are met.

Analyzes control procedures and recommends changes pertinent to shift operations.

Analyzes data flow and recommends changes in shift schedules.

Performs related work as required.

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Thorough knowledge of unit record equipment.

Considerable knowledge of computer systems, including uses, processing times, principles of operation, and terminology.

Considerable knowledge of JCL.

Ability to analyze work flow to determine if jobs are proceeding according to schedules.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college with course work in EDP and some training and experience in production scheduling and control; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
