NATURE OF WORK

This is technical administrative work in the collection, maintenance, and distribution of administrative data used to produce Regents reports, University reports, and special project reports which require analysis and comparisons.

An individual allocated to this class of work is responsible for the collection, editing, processing, and distribution of data required for one or more information systems. Duties involve supervision of clerical employees and requires frequent contact with academic departments. Work is performed under general direction of an administrative superior.

 

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

Coordinates the collection, editing, processing, and distribution of data required for one or more University data processing systems, such as the Faculty Assignment System or the space Utilization and Curriculum Inventory System.

Consults with academic departments in regard to the implementation of proper data collection methods and procedures and in providing needed information reports to them.

Supervises the work of clerical employees in the collection, editing, processing, analyzing, and distribution of data.

Assists in the implementation of computerized data base files and information systems within the University administration.

Performs other related work as required.

 

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with faculty, staff, fellow employees, and the general public.

Knowledge of computerized information systems including the operation and maintenance of data base files.

Knowledge of computer hardware.

Knowledge of general University programs, policies, procedures, and administrative practices.

Ability to supervise the work of others.

Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines as well as to work with confidential information.

 

DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college or university in an appropriate curriculum; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
