NATURE OF WORK
This is technical and clerical work involved in the collection, processing, and distribution of academic and administrative data used to produce university reports and records.
Work involves setting up, editing, and submitting computer production jobs from various departments. Included also is the responsibility of insuring the validity of the input and the timely return of the output. Work is performed with independence under general supervision.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Sets up, edits, submits, and insures correct execution of computer production jobs.
Collects, edits, and maintains batch control logs for input source documents.
Reviews and coordinates the different schedules from the various administrative departments and priorities work accordingly.
Maintains close contact with departments to insure that the output is correct and is received in a timely and accurate manner.
Serves as liaison between the user departments, analyst/programmers, and the computer operations staff. May be on-call for problem solving.
Monitors production jobs to insure efficient and cost effective execution.
Performs related work as required.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Considerable knowledge of job control language, time sharing options, and programming.
Considerable knowledge of data entry equipment and data processing principles and procedures.
Some knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Ability to maintain an accurate records and filing system.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school with formal data processing training in the form of a data processing curriculum; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
