NATURE OF WORK
This is manual and clerical work in coordinating and monitoring the flow of input and output data.
Work involves receiving, monitoring, and processing source documents and processed data. An employee allocated to this class of work maintains an input/output log and assists in coordinating the flow of work-in-process to meet daily production schedules. Work is reviewed by a technical supervisor for adherence to established procedures and policies.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Maintains a log of all data input and output; controls input and output.
Receives all input source documents; reviews output for accuracy and consistency; submits jobs for production runs.
Operates unit record equipment.
Distributes input and output to users and verifies distribution of output records.
Reviews daily production schedule and expedite jobs.
Monitors JCL and makes corrections in limited situations.
Performs related work as required.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Some knowledge of basic data processing principles and procedures.
Some knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
Ability to maintain an accurate records and filing system.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
Skill in the operation of unit record equipment and general office equipment.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard vocational or high school with course work in typing and keypunching and experience in a data processing environment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
