NATURE OF WORK
This is skilled work in the operation of small offset duplication equipment in the operation of a printing shop.
Work involves operating duplication equipment and servicing and repairing shop equipment. This class of work differs from the Duplication Equipment Operator I by the variety and size of equipment operated. Work is performed with considerable independence within established policies and procedures. Instructions on changes in policies and procedures are received orally and in writing. Work is reviewed through conferences and analysis of results obtained.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Trains subordinates in the proper operation, adjustment, and care of duplication, paper-cutting, folding, and punching machines.
Operates, adjusts, cleans, and maintains duplication and related machines such as the Multilith, masterlith, laminator, ozalid, collator, stapler, folder, and photostat.
Maintains quality standards; may supervise the work of others on large jobs.
Requisitions necessary supplies.
Maintains records and files of work performed; may compute cost of reproduction jobs.
Performs related work as required.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS
Some knowledge of the mechanics and maintenance of offset duplicating photostat and other common printing shop equipment.
Knowledge of the techniques of maintaining and repairing duplicating and related equipment.
Ability to supervise the work of others in the operation of duplication shop equipment and to train others in the efficient operation of such equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, customers, and others contacted in the course of work.
Skill in the operation of offset duplicating and related equipment.
DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school and some experience in the operation of small offset presses and related duplicating equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
