Admissions Guide

1. Choosing a Major

Terry College offers several nationally ranked undergraduate programs of study:

Co-Majors

*Students must be accepted into an above primary major before their application can be reviewed by the International Business faculty admissions committee.

2. Eligibility Requirements

Students must meet these minimum requirements to be considered for admission. They must:

  • Be enrolled at UGA
  • Have a 2.60 earned overall GPA (all coursework combined)
  • Be in good academic standing at UGA
  • Earn 60 hours overall*
  • Complete Core Curriculum I-VI as set forth in the BBA degree requirements* (PDF | 189 KB)
  • Complete MATH 2200 or MATH 2250*

*Students may apply if they are enrolled in coursework that fulfills these requirements. Acceptance into a major is contingent on fulfilling the above referenced requirements.

Important: If any of above referenced coursework has not been posted to the student's UGA transcript, proof of coursework (can be unofficial) must be brought to the Undergraduate Programs Office, 301 Brooks Hall, prior to the application deadline. Students who do not provide proof of coursework will become ineligible. UGAMail is the official form of communication for the application process.

3. Selection Criteria

Students will be admitted to the Terry College based on their excellence in the following areas:

Students planning to pursue the international business co-major must apply to a primary major (above).

Co-Major Selection Criteria

IB co-major applicants will be reviewed based on their primary major selection criteria as well as the co-major selection criteria. Students should use the statement of purpose to describe their interests/goals in international business.

4. Testing Details

Applicants must finish all required tests before their application to Terry will be considered:

For Fall Semester Admission

(classes beginning August)

  • Testing begins: November 1
  • Testing ends: February 1
For Spring Semester Admission

(classes beginning January)

  • Testing begins: April 1
  • Testing ends: September 1

All individual tests are administered by the UGA Testing Center. A fee is charged for each exam. Contact the UGA Testing Center at 706-542-3183 if you have additional questions.

Test results are sent automatically to the Terry College Undergraduate Program Office. You may also receive your ETS® Proficiency Profile results from the UGA Testing Center personnel immediately following completion of the test.

5. Application Deadlines

All application materials and testing must be completed by the dates noted below:

For Fall Semester Admission
  • Testing deadline: September 1
  • Application deadline: September 1
For Spring Semester Admission
  • Testing deadline: February 1
  • Application deadline: February 1
  • If these dates fall on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the deadline will be extended to 5:00 pm on the next business day.
  • These timeframes may change depending on the size of the applicant pool.
  • Admission decisions will be emailed to students within one week of the prior semester's midpoint withdrawal deadline.
  • There is an additional summer application period for current Terry students wishing to change or add majors.

Explanation of Selection Criteria

  1. The ETS® Proficiency Profile is required for all applicants. It is a standardized, multiple-choice assessment of academic skills (reading, writing, critical thinking, and mathematics) developed through General Education Areas I-IV of the core curriculum. More information »
    • Administered by the UGA Testing Center (706-542-3183)
    • Cost is $42.00 and may be taken a maximum of twice while enrolled at UGA.

  2. The Accounting Test is required for all accounting applicants. It is a multiple-choice test covering the content of ACCT 2101.
  3. Final course grades in ECON 2105 and/or ECON 2106. Applicants currently enrolled in one of these courses will be evaluated based on the grade in the completed course.
  4. Grades in all Mathematics courses. Level of course(s) will also be considered.
  5. Final course grades in ACCT 2101 and ACCT 2102. Applicants currently enrolled in ACCT 2102 will be evaluated based on the grade in ACCT 2101.
  6. A minimum grade of B is required in the two most recently completed non-English language courses. If you have exempted the foreign language requirement, please indicate this in your Statement of Purpose.
  7. The Statement of Purpose is a brief essay (300-400 words) in which the applicant describes his/her interest in the major and his/her future goals. A separate Statement of Purpose is required for each major to which an application is being made and resubmitted for each application period.
  8. Grades in all English courses. Level of course(s) will be considered.
  9. Grade in MIST 2090 or CSCI 1100, if completed or equivalents.
  10. Minimum grade of B required.
  11. An average grade of B is required in all economics courses completed to date.
  12. Final course grade in REAL 4000, if complete.
  13. Final course grade in RMIN 4000, if complete.
