Success Stories

The Terry alumni network is amazing and the mentor program is the perfect way to get involved as a student. I honestly believe that I would never have landed my dream job in my favorite city without the help and knowledge of my mentor.

First semester junior year I took an ECHD Academic and Career Planning course that was, by far, the most useful class I took while at Georgia. It forced me to write and perfect my resume and cover letter before I ever started applying to jobs or internships by having each item critiqued and reviewed by teachers and classmates. I also learned interview and communication skills that were invaluable during the job search process. Additionally, I would encourage students to attend the career panels and job search workshops that the career center holds throughout the semester.

Additionally, I highly recommend the Terry mentor program started this past year. My mentor gave me tips and tricks for everything from writing e-mails to interview techniques to evaluating job offers. The Terry College of Business is an amazing organization that has played a huge role in my success finding a job after college. I enjoyed most of my classes, even those I found difficult, because my professors were always very eager to help me gain a deeper understanding of the subject.

At this point, I plan on having an amazing time in Boston and, hopefully, being successful in my new consulting position. After a few years, I’d like to go back to school to get my MBA so I can continue to be competitive in the working world.

My best advice for students is to figure out exactly what your goals are and find or make a way to achieve them. Talk to everybody you possibly can who has a position or experience in something you’re interested in, even if you aren’t interested in their company or their location, because they may connect you with someone who is. Most importantly, stay positive no matter what.
