I encourage all Terry students to take advantage of the mentor program. It has been very enriching in terms of my professional development and we as students have a lot to learn from our alumni.
I participated in the Terry mentor program this past fall and have greatly enjoyed my time as a mentee. Through the mentorship, I have improved professionally as well as personally. The mentor-mentee match has been ideal since my mentor works in the industry I want and lives in my hometown so we have been able to meet for lunch, email and talk over the phone. He has assisted me by better introducing me to the banking industry, lending me financial manuals that associates use, and outlining the financial concepts and calculations for my upcoming interview. He has offered a detailed critique of my resume, connected me with important contacts, and answered all questions I have asked. Though at times I question if I am adding equal value to his time, I try to reciprocate his assistance and helpfulness as much as possible. Overall it has been a very enriching relationship.
Currently I am a third year finance major applying for an internship as an investment banking summer analyst. I am still unsure of what I wish to pursue after graduation but hope to receive more insight into what interests me after my time as a summer analyst.
