What resources did you use or would you like to encourage other students to use?: Get on it early. Have a resume prepared way in advance via career center or mentor. When an opportunity arises, be one of the first people to show interest.
Please explain your overall experience with the Terry College of Business and its services.: Terry does about everything it can do, besides require you to show up…which it was done with the new 1.5 MGMT classes. I’d rate my experience pretty high for the amount of effort I put into. In retrospect, I should have been way more involved with the college.
What are your career/future plans?: Risk Management & Insurance has opened me up to a vast amount of opportunities from underwriting to benefits to brokerage. I think a career in Reinsurance brokerage sounds the most appealing due to the large face value of the accounts and relatively lax if any regulation of that specific market.
What advice do you have for students?: Being first matters more than you think. Yes you’re competing against others, but don’t make it harder and sabotage yourself by putting things off. Know current events and specifically current events pertaining to your major/area of interest. When given the chance, ask pointed questions about potential new regulations or growth opportunities.
