Success Stories

Haley Donahue

Terry’s active approach to bettering its students has truly made me passionate about my role as a student, my academic career and advancement into the professional world.

What resources did you use or would you like to encourage other students to use?

As a first year Terry student, I recognize that Terry sets itself apart from other institutions with the diverse resources and involvement opportunities that it offers to its students, going far beyond just promoting academic growth. I have found the Terry Mentor Program and Terry Talks programs with professional alumni especially advantageous in understanding the real corporate world and aiding me in my search for a strong internship opportunity. These opportunities have offered me integral networking opportunities, career specific growth and an understanding of the business world. Terry staff members keep me up-to-date with all weekly activities happening within Terry in a weekly email sent out each Monday morning. From interview workshops to professional speakers, the College presents resources to its students from every angle.

Please explain your overall experience with the Terry College of Business and its services.

Just as Terry has distinguished itself from other institutions, the College has taught me to aggressively distinguish myself from the competition within my career in finance. So far, my experience in Terry has given me the skills to set myself apart in terms of academics, professional communication, and acquaintance of the financial world. Terry’s active approach to bettering its students has truly made me passionate about my role as a student, my academic career and advancement into the professional world.

What are your career/future plans?

As far as the Summer of 2011, I am interning with JP Morgan as a Summer Analyst. During my time with JP Morgan, I will gain experience with the firm’s finance department, which supports JP Morgan’s Investment Bank line in data analysis and reporting. From the experience, I hope to gain knowledge in treasury, planning and analysis, financial control, financial reporting, as well as the operations of a premier, international banking firm. It is my goal to return to my senior year with an offer for a permanent position upon graduation.

What advice do you have for students?

The advice I would give to students is to treat one’s time and experience at Terry like dodging ones way through the crowds of fans at a Georgia game. There will be many things that will stand in the way as tough challenges, but it is up to the student to think intelligently, navigating oneself through the crowd, utilizing every resource that Terry may offer its students. By doing so, one will find oneself in a front row seat and in a far better position that others would hope to be.
