Economics Society to Host Stimulus Plan Discussion Panel
On Wednesday, February 18, the Economics Society sponsored a panel discussion of the recently passed stimulus plan, with Professors Bill Lastrapes (Economics), Greg Trandel (Economics) and Robert Grafstein (Political Science) serving as the panelists. A lot has happened since our October 8 panel, held in the wake of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy. Since then, the US government and the Federal Reserve have undertaken a series of historic actions in addition to the passage of the stimulus package, including bailouts of the banking and automobile industries. And, now there is widespread talk of nationalizing the major banks.
