Buying Power

The Multicultural Economy

The Selig Center for Economic Growth annually produces a comprehensive report of consumer buying power in the United States. Buying power is defined as disposable income that is available for spending after taxes.

The Multicultural Economy report provides state-level buying power estimates broken down by race (white, black, Asian, American Indian) and ethnicity (Hispanic). The 2012 report includes current-year buying power estimates, buying power projections through 2017 and historical data going back to 1990 to provide a measure of growth trends in all 50 states.

The Multicultural Economy 2012 report is now available for purchase. Visit our online store for instant downloadable access.
