Admissions/Application Process
The Terry College of Business has moved to an upper division program that enrolls only third- and fourth-year students. All new UGA students who plan to pursue the BBA degree will be admitted to the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences as "pre-business majors." For most students, application to enter Terry (that is, to enter a Terry major ) will occur in the second semester of their second (sophomore) year. Students must meet the following eligibility criteria in order to apply for admission to a Terry BBA major:
- Be enrolled at UGA
- Earn 2.6 overall grade point average
- Be in academic good standing (at least 2.0 cumulative GPA)
- Earn 60 hours overall*
- Complete BBA Core Curriculum A-F*
Students may apply if they are enrolled in coursework that fulfills these outstanding requirements. Acceptance in the major is contingent on satisfactory completion of in-progress work. However, there is no guarantee of acceptance to any major in the Terry College of Business. After meeting the entrance requirements, students will be selected based on the following high-demand selection criteria:
- Terry MAPP — Multiple choice examination that measures academic achievement during the first two years of college programs.
- Grade in Economics course: Final course grades in ECON 2105 and/or ECON 2106, or equivalent.
- Grade in Accounting course: Final course grades in ACCT 2101, or equivalent, and ACCT 2102, if completed or equivalent.
- Statement of Purpose (The Statement of Purpose is a brief essay (300-400 words) in which the applicant describes his/her interest in the major and his/her future goals. **Guidelines for Statement of Purpose Format).
Acceptance to majors in the Terry College of Business is contingent upon successful completion of coursework in which you are currently enrolled. That is, if you do not complete courses to fulfill 60 hours, Areas A-F of the Core Curriculum, and maintain a 2.6 overall GPA and a 2.00 UGA GPA, you will not be permitted to take major courses and may be required to reapply.
*Students may apply if they are enrolled in course work that fulfills these outstanding requirements. Acceptance in the major is contingent on satisfactory completion of in-progress work.
