James Hannan is chief executive officer and president of Georgia–Pacific, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and marketers of tissue, packaging, pulp, paper, building products and related chemicals.

A native of Connecticut, Hannan graduated from California State University, East Bay (formerly California State University, Hayward) with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

He spent six years with the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand before joining Pegasus Gold as assistant corporate controller in 1995. He was named the company’s controller about a year later.
